Step away, come back

In the menu bar

AFK lives in the menu bar, with no Dock icon.

Per-application timeouts

Give each app on your list its own timeout, from 10 seconds to 1 hour, in a settings window that shows each app’s icon.

Timer window

While you are away, a small window shows the time since your last input.

Focus comes back

The moment you interact again, the timer window goes away and focus returns to the app it came from.

Automatic updates

New releases reach you on their own.

Universal and notarized

Runs on Apple silicon and Intel, and every release is notarized.

What’s new

1.0.1

Fixed

  • While the timer shows, the menu bar belongs to AFK instead of the application it took focus from, and Screen Time counts that time towards AFK. AFK's Dock icon shows for as long as the timer does.
1.0.0

Added

  • AFK takes focus from a listed application once you stop interacting, and shows a timer with the time since your last input.
  • Any keyboard, mouse or scroll input hides the timer and returns focus to the application AFK took it from.
  • A menu bar item with a settings window: add applications with their icons and choose each one's timeout.
  • Automatic updates through Sparkle, and a Check for Updates item in the menu bar.
